The Gala Benefit Concert and Silent Auction promises to be another memorable night for the BHS community! John Middleton-Cox, Matt Lovell, Leanne Reardon and Jen Agati have all been busy auditioning and preparing the performers for the benefit concert and the program is progressing beautifully. The BHS Marching Band, Color Guard and Dance Squad will all independently perform on the program, joined by local friends of the band including Amanda Potts (Assistant Band Director and Burlington schools music teacher), Tim Rose and Mark Sapossnek (Music Boosters Vice President-Band and friend of the Music Boosters, respectively), and John Middleton-Cox (BHS Chorus Director). Student auditions took place last Wednesday with one more round to go today and final selections will be made by the end of the week. This is going to be one wonderful concert! John Middleton-Cox is producing the performance … well, what more can we say! Lights, sound, props … a fantastic show is on the horizon!
The committees are in place. Members are actively involved in securing the final silent auction items and local bakeries have committed to the festive dessert reception with coffee and pastries. Doors will open at the high school at approximately 6:30 pm on the evening of the event for auction bidding to commence. There will be many items on which to bid highlighted by tickets to a Patriots Game, opening night tickets to the Reagle Players holiday favorite “It’s ChristmasTime,” BHS season tickets to The Crucible (fall) and Titanic (spring), as well as a number of baskets and gift certificates to favorite restaurants and other local services. Bidding on these items will continue through the dessert reception during intermission but will close promptly at the beginning of the second half of the concert. Winners of the silent auction items will be posted and all transactions will be finalized post-concert!
The most important part of this wonderful evening of music is that it will benefit the students of the Burlington High School Marching Band and their trip to Disney World during April of 2010. All ticket sales by individual students will be applied directly to their Disney account. Door sales and silent auction revenue will be used for related Disney costs and Boosters programs.
